St. Joseph Secondary School, Emene was born on the 3rd of September, 2001. It is a daughter school of St. Mary’s Nursery/Primary School, Emene. It was named after St. Joseph the husband of Mary, mother of God because it was St. Joseph parish emene that established the school under the Catholic mission schools. It Started from JS1 with a total number of 140 students with a good number of pupils from St. Mary’s Nursery/Primary School, Emene. Rev. Fr. Ignatius Emefo was the parish priest of St. Joseph Parish the Administrator. he was assisted by Rev. Fr. Gozie Nnebedum at the inception of this School. They gave their maximum support and encouragement in the growth of the school. Rev. Sr. Rose Mary Anamezie of the Daughters of Divine love congregation was the first principal and late Chief Romanus Ezeoba as the Vice Principal. These Three individuals formed the governing board of the school.
